President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, signalling a major effort to restructure the country’s security architecture.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, a day after Musa was confirmed by the Senate following a five-hour screening.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga shared a photo of Musa taking the oath of office on his X account, marking the formal assumption of his ministerial duties.

The Senate on Wednesday officially approved General Christopher Musa (rtd) as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.

Musa’s confirmation followed an extensive five-hour session during which Senators subjected him to rigorous questioning and scrutiny.

President Bola Tinubu had earlier nominated Musa to succeed Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who stepped down from the role due to health reasons.

During his screening, Musa promised to implement a strict zero-tolerance approach to banditry and terrorism upon taking office.
