Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has described the comments by Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo state on insecurity as “disturbing” and “careless”.

Abdullahi said families of victims are still grieving and searching for their loved ones, adding that the APC-led government should provide answers instead of promoting what he described as conspiracy theories.

His words: “Families are still crying, still waiting, still begging for their children to come home. This is a real shame and a big problem. We can now see the sort of thinking that goes on within the APC.”

Abdullahi said replacing “hard evidence and real intelligence” with “baseless accusations and conspiracy theories” showed there is a serious problem in governance.

He questioned whether the governor knew that “the person that led the weaponisation of insecurity to discredit GEJ is the same man that is in power today”.

“How can a self-respecting public figure talk like this?” Abdullahi queried.

The governor had said those responsible for kidnappings in the country are doing it to discredit the government of President Bola Tinubu.
