The Bauchi State Government has announced the temporary closure and diversion of several major roads in the metropolis ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s condolence visit to the state.

According to the government, the President is expected in Bauchi to commiserate with the family and followers of the late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

The notice was contained in a statement issued late Friday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado.

The statement said major routes leading to the Sheikh’s mosque and other strategic locations will either be closed or diverted between 1pm and 6pm on Saturday for security and traffic control.

Gidado explained that the measures were necessary to safeguard residents and ensure the smooth conduct of the presidential activities.

“The public is hereby notified that some major routes leading to the Sheikh’s mosque and other key locations will be temporarily closed or diverted from 1pm to 6pm for traffic control and security reasons. These measures are purely for safety and effective traffic management during the President’s visit,” he said.

He urged residents to plan their movements, comply with traffic directives, avoid restricted areas and cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state.

The government also appealed for calm and responsible conduct throughout the visit.

“The Bauchi State Government regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of the public,” Gidado added.

He said the state remained committed to maintaining peace while honouring the legacy of the late scholar, whose teachings and influence had a profound impact on Bauchi, Nigeria and the wider Muslim community.

Politics Nigeria reported that on Friday, Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga confirmed that Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday for a three-state visit to Borno, Bauchi and Lagos.
