Suspected bandits attacked Fananawa village in the Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday night, killing one resident and abducting five others.
The Zamfara State Police Command confirmed the incident, noting that one person was killed, another injured, and five people taken during the raid.
Police spokesperson DSP Yazid Abubakar said security operatives had already launched a rescue operation to secure the release of the captives.
“Our personnel are currently on a rescue mission, and very soon you will hear a success story,” Abubakar stated.
Zamfara remains one of the states worst affected by banditry in the North-West, with Bukuyum LGA repeatedly targeted despite ongoing security operations.
