Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has hinted that he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if its ongoing internal crisis is not resolved.
Lamido made the remarks during an interview with the BBC Hausa Service in Kaduna on Tuesday.
He stated that if the party fails to address its problems, he would take whatever action he deems best for himself, including the possibility of joining another political party.
The ex-governor also voiced strong displeasure over what he described as deliberate attempts by certain individuals to weaken and undermine the PDP.
According to Lamido, the failure of the party leadership to urgently tackle deepening divisions could force him to reconsider his political future.
“If we cannot find solutions to the problems facing the PDP, I will have no option but to look elsewhere,” he said.
The elder statesman lamented that the PDP, once a unifying platform for Nigerians, is now riddled with internal wrangling, leaving loyal members frustrated and disillusioned.
He warned that continued infighting could further erode the party’s strength ahead of future elections, stressing the need for decisive action to restore unity and discipline.
