Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has ordered the immediate dismissal of four of his aides over their alleged involvement in the assault of a serving councillor.
The action follows investigations into the attack on Abdulrahman Abubakar Sheriff, the councillor representing Shamaki Ward in Gombe Local Government Area, which have been concluded.
In a statement, the governor’s spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the directive was communicated through the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following the submission of findings by a special committee appointed by the state government.
The committee’s report, supported by information from security agencies, served as the basis for the governor’s decision.
The dismissed aides include Adamu Abdullahi Danko, Senior Special Assistant II (Domestic); Garba Mohammed Mai Rago, Senior Special Assistant II (Political); Rabiu Sulaiman Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant II (Social Media); and Ali Ibrahim Baban Kaya, Senior Special Assistant II (Community Relations).
Governor Yahaya ordered that the dismissals take immediate effect and instructed the former aides to return all government-owned property in their possession to the appropriate authorities.
Misilli added that the governor reaffirmed his administration’s firm stance against violence, misconduct, and the abuse of public office, warning that such behaviour would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
