Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, has formally withdrawn his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Ampang West ward in Mangu local government area, Mutfwang said his resignation takes immediate effect.
The letter was received on December 30, 2025, by Dasjak Sunday, the PDP ward chairman.
In the letter, the governor thanked the PDP for providing him with the platform to participate in the democratic process.
“I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process,” he said.
Mutfwang also expressed gratitude to party leaders, members and supporters for the trust and support he received during his time in the party.
He said his decision to resign was informed by prevailing political realities and his commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and effective service delivery.
Although Mutfwang has yet to announce his next political destination, there are speculations that the Plateau governor is set to join the ruling party.
