US Congressman Raises Alarm Over ISWAP Threats Against Christians in Nigeria

A United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has raised concerns over reports of threats against Christians in Nigeria, describing the situation as religious persecution.

Moore cited statements allegedly linked to an Islamic State–affiliated group, saying they clearly point to targeted attacks on Christians.

In a post shared on his verified X account on Thursday night, the lawmaker said the ongoing debate over the motives behind violence against Christian communities in Nigeria should be put to rest.

According to him, there should no longer be any doubt that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

“This isn’t about land use, ‘climate change,’ or any other argument the Left wants to make. This is persecution of our brothers and sisters for their faith in Christ, plain and simple,” Moore wrote.

He was reacting to posts circulating on X earlier in the day which claimed that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) released an image showing a Christian village in Adamawa State set ablaze.

  1. Nigeria Christian communities are facing genocide because of their belief in Jesus Christ. This is not about land for grazing its about jihad. Wherever Christians are located they are at risk of extinction. The world should come to our aid because Christians naturally are not violent, our religion does not support killing for any reason.
