The Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Orji Uzor-Kalu has called on all governors to ensure they secure their various states for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.
Uzor-Kalu, a former governor of Abia State also assured that he would do everything within his powers to ensure that the southeastern state, currently under the leadership of Alex Otti of Labour Party is delivered to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He gave this assurance during an annual New Year visit to the Chairman of the APC Ebonyi, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
He added that he would leave no stone unturned in his effort to wrestle power from the Labour Party in Abia State in 2027.
Uzor-Kalu said, “I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections.
“I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC wins a landslide in Abia, at the election.
“The incumbent Governor, Dr Alex Oti is my friend but I am not discussing politics, only the total victory of the APC in the elections,” Uzor-Kalu noted.
He further admonished State governors across the country to play their part and not resort to leaving the task of delivering the state for APC in the hands of the president.
“When I was Abia governor, I ensured total security of lives and properties.
“There were no cases of kidnapping among other crimes in Abia and this was at a period when other states were grappling with heightened insecurity
“The governors should emulate Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, who has ensured adequate peace and security in the state,” the former governor said.
Speaking further, he revealed that his annual New Year visit to the state stems from an age-long loyalty to the chairman of the APC in Ebonyi.
According to Uzor-Kalu, the Ebonyi APC chairman is an embodiment of loyalty and is someone one can trust with their lives.
“I raised him as a child, even when his father was alive and he was part of the success stories I recorded as a governor.
“When I handed him over to Former Ebonyi Governor, Senator David Umahi, I urged him to give his principal 100 per cent loyalty and he has transferred such virtue to the incumbent governor, Nwifuru,” he added.
