RCCG reacts to rescue of abducted Oyo schoolchildren, teachers

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has welcomed the successful rescue of teachers and schoolchildren abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Suspected terrorists attacked Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Community High School, and L.A. Primary School on May 15, 2026, triggering widespread fear across the state. One teacher was reportedly beheaded while in captivity.

After 56 days in captivity, security forces rescued the hostages on July 10, 2026, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation in Oyo Forest. Eight suspects were arrested during the operation.

In a post on X, the RCCG declared that God had fulfilled His promise to the people.

“And our God arose like He promised! Let somebody shout Hallelujah!!

Glory be to our God for answering our prayers and fulfilling His word,” RCCG posted on X

The church commended the government and security agencies for their efforts and congratulated the families of the rescued victims.

“We appreciate the efforts of all the security agencies in securing the release of our schoolchildren and their teachers from captivity.

“Congratulations to each of them and their families. Our God answers prayers. Hallelujah!!!” the church added.
