The Delta state government has said that the Secretary to the state government, Chiedu Ebie, and the State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, have tested positive for COVID-19.
Olisa Ifeajika, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Asaba, the state capital.
Ifeajika said the two officials were among the 83 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the state on Saturday night and have been moved to an isolation center.
The CPS revealed that both officials showed mild symptoms of the virus and consequently subjected themselves to the test. However, both officials were stable, and responding well to treatment, he said.
Ifeajika called on residents of the state to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as anyone, irrespective of status could contract the virus.
