The Nigerian Government has announced its withdrawal from the World Economic Forum in Cape Town, South Africa over recent xenophobic attacks.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Geoffrey Onyeama, minister of foreign affairs, at the presidential villa in Abuja, on Tuesday. The government has also recalled its high commissioner to South-Africa, Kabiru Bala.
President Muhammadu Buhari is also contemplating turning down the invitation of South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa over the violence against Nigerians in South Africa.
It will be recalled that Ramaphosa had invited Buhari to his country on October 3 for discussions on strengthening the unity between both countries.
