JUST IN: FG Completes Evacuation of Nigerians From South Africa

The Federal Government has completed the evacuation of Nigerians from South Africa as the final batch of evacuees arrived in Lagos on Wednesday amid rising xenophobic tensions in the country.

The evacuees returned aboard an Air Peace flight, which touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at about 11:28 a.m.

The latest arrival marks the conclusion of the government-led evacuation exercise, which was initiated following concerns over xenophobic attacks and tensions involving Nigerians living in South Africa.

The Federal Government had earlier carried out four evacuation flights, bringing back hundreds of Nigerians as part of efforts to ensure their safety amid the reported incidents.
