The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election scheduled for Thursday, 25th June, 2020 has been stopped.
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, gave the order on Monday following a suit brought before the court by one of the PDP governorship aspirants, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
The presiding judge, Hon. Justice E.A Obile, granted the experts order, which asked the court to stop the forthcoming PDP governorship primaries in the state.
Justice Obile also stopped governor Obaseki from participating in the earlier scheduled exercise and restrained the PDP leadership from allowing Obaseki or any member of the party that has purchased forms and were not screened within the time stipulated in the timetable to contest the PDP’s primary.
The judge also allowed the defendant to serve the parties in the suit through substituted means by putting the judgement in two national dailies.
Justice Obile, however, adjourned till 24th June, for the hearing of the summon.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Ogbeide-Ihama had vowed not to step down for Governor Godwin Obaseki who defected to the party last week.
