JUST IN: How Ajimobi died from Multiple Organ Failure – Lagos Govt

The Lagos state government has reacted to the death of the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

This newspaper reports that the 70-year-old has been in a coma and on life support for some days after surgery but passed away at the First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi on Thursday.

But In a tweet on Friday morning, Lagos state Commissioner of Health, Akin Abayomi, has finally revealed the cause of Ajimobi’s death.

The commissioner said the former governor died of multiple organ failure following complications from COVID-19 infection on Thursday.

Abayomi said that the Lagos state government commiserated with the family of the former Governor and the people of Oyo state.

He wrote: “We regret the death of immediate past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajumobi who passed on today, June 25, 2020 at First Cardiologist Consultant; a private #COVID19 approved care facility in Lagos State.

“The former Governor died from multiple organs failure following complications from #COVID19 infection.

“On behalf of #COVID19Lagos Incident Commander @jidesanwoolu and the entire #COVID19 Lagos response team, we convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the former Governor and the people of Oyo state.

“May his soul rest in peace”
