Bauchi Governor Mohammed Declares Today as Statewide Work-Free Day

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has announced Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as a “work-free day” for civil servants in both the public and private sectors across the state.
The declaration was contained in a press release issued on Monday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar M. Gidado. According to the statement, the holiday is meant to enable residents to actively take part in the “50th Golden Jubilee” celebrations of Bauchi State.
Governor Mohammed described the anniversary as an opportunity to look back on the state’s journey, acknowledge achievements, and reinforce unity among the people.
He also encouraged residents to dedicate the day to prayers for sustained peace, prosperity, and development in the state.
In line with the celebrations, residents have been directed to plant at least one tree each as a step toward environmental sustainability, combating desertification, and safeguarding the ecosystem for future generations.
The governor further appealed to citizens to celebrate in a responsible manner, uphold peace, and demonstrate patriotism as well as a sense of collective responsibility.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to good governance, inclusive growth, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of all citizens.
However, providers of essential services are to remain at their duty posts to ensure public safety and security.
The governor is scheduled to address the state in a statewide broadcast by 7:00 a.m. today to mark the “50th Golden Jubilee” anniversary of Bauchi State’s creation.
