The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) National Campaign Council for Edo governorship election on Wednesday met to strategize on how to retain the state and ensure the victory of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
In a statement by the Rivers Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, the meeting, which was behind closed doors at the Government House, was presided by the Chairman of the council, Governor Nyesom Wike.
Nsirim said the council reiterated its support for governor Obaseki, noting that the Edo governor remained the favorites ahead of other candidates.
He quoted the council as saying that the Edo electorates were desirous of consolidating the democratic gains the various elective representatives had provided for them.
The statement quoted the council as saying that the meeting adopted the best strategies to “retain what rightly belongs to PDP”.
It referred to the meeting as the first gathering to formulate strategies for the election since the inauguration of the 77 member National Campaign Council by the National Working Committee of the PDP on the 7th of July, 2020 in Abuja.
