“U No Try” – Davido Calls Out Tinubu Over Osun Election
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Davido accused the President of failing to protect democracy amid reports of security deployments and other developments surrounding the poll.
The Afrobeats star made his latest comment on Saturday in a post on X, where he directly tagged the President. He wrote, “U no try @officialABAT.”
The singer’s criticism came shortly after he accused the Tinubu administration of undermining democracy while reacting to reports concerning the deployment of police and military personnel during the election.
In the earlier post, Davido had written, “Because we are winning. They want to withdraw the police and military! MR PRESIDENT TINUBU ! UR KILLING DEMOCRACY.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that voting in the Osun State governorship election ended across the state on Saturday, with results beginning to emerge from various polling units.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Accord Party recorded strong performances in some of the polling units where results had been announced, taking an early lead over the All Progressives Congress (APC).
At Olukoro Village, Polling Unit 007, in Agba Registration Area of Boripe Local Government Area, Accord secured 97 votes, while the APC polled 82 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC), whose candidate is Najeem Salaam, recorded two votes.
According to the result sheet signed by the presiding officer, the polling unit recorded 184 valid votes, while 185 ballot papers were used.
In another result from Unit 2, Ward 10, in Ila-Orangun, Accord also emerged ahead of the APC, securing 104 votes against the 58 votes recorded by the ruling party. Five votes were declared void at the polling unit.
The emerging figures are not the final results of the election, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to collate results from polling units across the state before declaring the winner.
Davido has been closely following developments in the Osun election and has used his social media platform to comment on issues surrounding the conduct of the poll.
Earlier on Saturday, he also called on INEC officials to use the front camera of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) whenever the main camera develops a fault, following reports of technical difficulties at some polling units.
“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!,” he said.
The BVAS is used by INEC for voter accreditation through biometric and facial verification, making the proper functioning of the devices important to the voting process.
Davido had also previously called on local and international election observers to pay close attention to the conduct of the Osun governorship election.
