Former Bayelsa State Governor and National Democratic Congress leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has visited former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in Abuja to offer condolences over the death of Amaechi’s mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Dickson led a delegation to Amaechi’s residence on Thursday as the family prepares for the final rites and internment ceremony of the late matriarch, which is scheduled to take place next month.
The visit follows the death of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi at the age of 89.

The late matriarch was described by Amaechi’s media office as a beloved mother whose life was defined by faith, love, peace and unity.
Dickson’s visit adds to the growing number of prominent Nigerians who have visited Amaechi since the death of his mother was announced.
Amaechi, who is the running mate to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has received condolence visits from political leaders, religious figures, former public officials, friends and associates.
Atiku himself recently paid a condolence visit to Amaechi at his Abuja residence last month.
The ADC presidential candidate was accompanied by members of his team during the visit to sympathise with his running mate and the Amaechi family.
The visit came about two weeks after a delegation led by the Dujima of Adamawa, Alhaji Musa Halilu, visited Amaechi’s residence on behalf of Atiku to convey the former Vice President’s condolences shortly after the death was announced.
Other prominent Nigerians who have visited Amaechi include former Senate President David Mark, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, former Edo State Governor and former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
Several leaders and members of the African Democratic Congress have also visited the former Rivers State governor to express their condolences.
NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi also paid a condolence visit to Amaechi and his wife, Dame Judith Amaechi, after earlier expressing his sympathy in a message on X.
Obi described the death of Amaechi’s mother as a profound loss and prayed for strength and comfort for the former governor and his family.

Obi wrote, “My Condolences to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on the Passing of His Mother.
“My dear brother, I was saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved mother. Losing a parent, especially a matriarch who contributed so much to her family and community is a profound loss that words can scarcely comfort.
“On behalf of my family, I extend our deepest condolences to you, the entire Amaechi family, and all who are mourning this monumental loss.
“May God Almighty grant her eternal rest, and may He give you and your loved ones the strength, fortitude, and peace to bear this irreparable loss.
“Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. With my highest regards and deepest sympathy.”
President Bola Tinubu also mourned the death of Dame Ezinne Amaechi, describing her as “a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity.”

The President said, “My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi. May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time.”
