The election of Senator Duoye Diri as Bayelsa State Governor has been affirmed by the Bayelsa Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja on Saturday.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Owodunni, the three-man panel held that the petition filed by Owei Woniwei of the Alliance for Democracy against Diri’s election is incompetent and lacks merit.
The Tribunal further held that the petitioner failed to prove the allegations of the forged declaration of age and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharged certificate levelled against the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence.
The panel also dismissed the petition filed by Ibiene Stephen of the United Peoples Congress challenging Governor Diri’s election.
The last judgment to be delivered is between Vijah Opuama of Liberation Movement against INEC, Senator Duoye Diri, his deputy and the PDP.
