INEC Confirms Adegoke as ADC Governorship Candidate in Oyo
The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Oyo State.
INEC posted Adegoke’s Form EC9 on its website in the early hours of Saturday. The commission displayed the names of governorship candidates submitted by political parties in line with its timetable for the 2027 general elections.
The governorship election will hold in Oyo and 27 other states. State Houses of Assembly elections will take place across the 36 states of the federation.
The posting of Adegoke’s name has put to rest the controversy over the authentic governorship candidate of the ADC in Oyo State. Some aspirants had earlier laid claim to the party’s ticket.
Adegoke emerged from the ADC governorship primary election. He scored 16,051 votes. Other aspirants trailed behind him in the primary.
His media team said they never doubted that he was the authentic candidate of the party. The team stated that Adegoke went through the governorship primary supervised by INEC and came top.

“We know our principal, Olooye Adegoke went through the Governorship primaries of the ADC which was duly supervised by the INEC and came top to emerge as the Oyo State Governorship Candidate of the party. This display of our Principal’s name should put to rest the claim by another aspirant that he is the candidate of the party,” the media team said.
The team urged other aspirants and their supporters to stop further misrepresentations. It called on them to respect the decision of the party and the position of INEC.
“We therefore urge all other aspirants and their supporters to desist forthwith from any further misrepresentations and to respect the decision of the party and the position of INEC,” the statement added.
The media team described Adegoke as a tested leader with the capacity, vision and experience to deliver good governance in Oyo State. It said the ADC remains committed to providing credible leadership to the people of the state.

Adegoke himself advised all aggrieved aspirants to cooperate with him in order to win the election for the party.
The ADC national leadership had earlier reaffirmed Adegoke as its recognised candidate. Party officials noted that he emerged through a direct primary in which members of the party voted for him.
The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to continue the process of displaying candidates’ forms as part of preparations for the 2027 elections. The commission has set February 6, 2027 as the date for the governorship elections.
