Some lawmakers in the Ondo State House of Assembly have raised the alarm over the alleged plot to assassinate them.
The lawmakers were suspended for by the state assembly, but an Akure High Court reversed their suspension and ordered the Assembly to pay them the sum of N15m for damages,
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some suspected thugs numbering over 100 were seen at the main gate of the Assembly. But Speaker of the House, HonBamidele Oleyelogun said they were members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers who were at the Assembly for a meeting.
Reacting to the claim, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Iroju Ogundeji, who was among those suspended, said the thugs were at the assembly to kill, saying that they were currently helpless.
He accused the governor and the speaker of sponsoring the thugs to kill the lawmakers who refused to impeach the deputy governor of the state, Hon, Agboola Ajayi
According to him, “Idajo and his members from the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW came to the house to kill us on the order of the governor and the speaker. They said we should not enter the house to perform our constitutional legislative duties.
“Right now, we are helpless because they are using government power against us. We are only relying on God to come to our aide.”
