President Trump posts AI video depicting Barack, Michelle Obama as monkeys [WATCH]

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked widespread condemnation after sharing an AI-generated video on his social media platform, Truth Social, portraying former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys.

The video, posted on Friday, shows digitally altered images in which the smiling faces of the former first couple are superimposed onto the bodies of monkeys. Michelle Obama’s face appears on a black monkey, while Barack Obama’s face is placed on a brown monkey. The post quickly circulated online, triggering a wave of backlash and accusations of racism.

Critics across political lines described the video as offensive and unbecoming of a former president. California Governor Gavin Newsom was among the first high-profile figures to react, writing on X that the post amounted to “disgusting behaviour” and urging Republicans to publicly denounce it.

Democratic activist Harry Sisson also condemned the video, calling it “incredibly racist and disgusting,” and arguing that it fell far below the standards expected of someone who has held the nation’s highest office. He added that Americans should speak out against such conduct.

This is not the first time Trump has shared controversial AI-generated content involving his predecessor. In a previous post, he circulated another digitally fabricated video that depicted Barack Obama being arrested in the Oval Office and taken to jail, a clip that also drew sharp criticism at the time.
