Members of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2019 Election Review Committee have met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida and former Senate President, David Mark.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the committee headed and led by Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed met with Babangida in his Minna residence, the Niger State capital on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters in Minna, Mohammed said the committee met with the former military leader to discuss how the party will strategise ahead of the 2023 general election and how to move the party forward.
He added that the committee was set up to see how the PDP can maximise the gains it has made in recent elections, including in Bayelsa and Edo.
Mohammed and members of his team, which include former governors of Jigawa and Niger states, Sule Lamido, Babangida Aliyu, and Presidential Aspirant of the PDP in the 2019 presidential election, Kabiru Turaki (SAN), also met separately with Obasanjo and Mark, in Abuja on Sunday.
The Bauchi governor added that they met with Obasanjo and Mark not only review where the party faltered in 2019, but also seek their counsel on how best to reposition and restore it to its lost glory.
He noted that the committee is working to galvanize founding fathers of the party towards the promotion of good governance in the nation.
Mohammed added that the party came to seek their counsel on how the party could reconcile aggrieved members and rebuild the brand to appeal to Nigerians once again as the nation prepares for the 2023 general elections.
He also explained that the visit to the former Senate President is to intimate him on the activities of the committee and seek his support.
