Justice Shehu Atiku, former Chief Judge of Kano State, has been confirmed dead.
In a statement issued by Kano State Judiciary Public Relations Officer, Baba Jibo Ibrahim, the judge died on Sunday after a brief illness.
The statement said the late Chief Judge, who retired from service in January 2015, would be buried today at 10.00am according to Muslim rites.
It was learned the late jurist would be remembered for his role in the failed banks tribunal in which he was uncompromising despite various attempts to bribe him.
He was also said to have refused to bow to threats on his life as he diligently adjudicated on cases brought before the tribunal over which he presided.
As at the time of filing this report, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state is yet to issue a statement on the death of Justice Atiku.
