#LekkiShooting: Your silence is causing more problems, Nwodo tells Buhari

A former governor of Enugu State, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, has knocked President Muhammadu Buhari for keeping silent on the killing of unarmed #EndSARS Protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday evening.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that security forces opened fire on the protesters who were agitating for an end to Police Brutality and bad governance in the country. It was gathered that many lives were lost during the fatal incident.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday in Enugu, the former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, urged the President to immediately address the nation on the shooting in Lagos and attend to the demands of the protesting youths to save the country from total collapse.

Nwodo noted that President Buhari was ill-advised to send the Nigerian Army to start shooting unarmed youths bearing the national flags and singing the national anthem.

“Government was ill-advised to send military men to start shooting unarmed young men and women bearing the national flags and singing the national anthem. However, it is not too late for the president to rise to the occasion;

“After all, these are his children. He should caution and advise them, not shooting them. I don’t think anyone would refuse to listen to him when he talks to the protesters as a father. Nothing would get the youths off the streets like the presidential address,” he said.
