BREAKING: President Buhari to address Nigerians by 7pm

President Muhammadu Buhari will be addressing the nation in a live broadcast at 7 pm. The President’s address is coming two days after security forces opened fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday evening.

The Presidency, in a statement on Thursday, said that The President decided to address Nigerians following a detailed briefing by security chiefs on the current situation in the country.

According to the statement, Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.

The statement read: “Following detailed briefing by security chiefs on the current situation in the country, President @MBuhari will make a national broadcast Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 7pm.

“Television, radio and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.”

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the President has been under severe pressure to address the nation concerning the shooting of #ENDSARS protesters by security forces at the Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday.

But in an interview with State House correspondents at the end of a meeting of the National Security Council on Thursday, the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.) said the President would come up with solutions to the protests that led to the crisis in the country.
