IGP Disu Announces Fresh Police Postings, Names New PROs for State Commands

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has approved fresh postings of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Public Relations Liaison Officers (PRLOs) to selected commands and formations of the Nigeria Police Force.

The new deployments cover Zone 5, Zone 11 in Osogbo, the Benue State Police Command and the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC).

The police said the postings are part of efforts to improve communication between the Force and the public, strengthen media relations and ensure that credible information reaches Nigerians through the appropriate channels.

The Nigeria Police Force announced the development in a post on its official X handle on Friday.

It also released the names and contact numbers of the officers assigned to the affected formations to make it easier for members of the public and journalists to reach them.

Under the new arrangement, Superintendent of Police Johnson A. Doghudje has been posted as the Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 5.

Doghudje is expected to serve as a point of contact for media enquiries and public communication concerning the zone. His official contact number is 08038773657.

Superintendent of Police Ojedele Olanrewaju Tunji has also been posted to Zone 11 in Osogbo.

He can be reached on 09152481510 for official communication and related enquiries.

The Benue State Police Command will have Deputy Superintendent of Police Orchia Adndongu as its new Police Public Relations Officer. His contact number is 07013495466.

The posting comes as the command remains one of the police formations responsible for communicating security-related information, public safety notices and operational updates to residents and other stakeholders in the state.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Imah Unwana Victor has been deployed to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre. Members of the public and other stakeholders can contact him on 08038281577.

The National Cybercrime Centre handles police activities relating to cybercrime investigations and other technology-related offences within its mandate.

Effective public communication in this area is important as Nigerians increasingly rely on digital platforms for financial transactions, business activities and personal communication.

The latest postings are intended to provide the affected formations with designated officers who can coordinate media enquiries, issue official updates and facilitate communication between the police and the communities they serve.

In its announcement, the Nigeria Police Force said the deployments were aimed at ensuring the “effective dissemination of information and closer collaboration with the public and media across the affected Commands and Formations.”

The Force also linked the changes to its broader efforts to strengthen strategic communication and improve public access to credible police information.

Public Relations Officers play an important role in police communication.

They provide journalists with official information, respond to enquiries and communicate the Force’s position on incidents, investigations and security developments.

They also help clarify reports circulating on social media and direct members of the public to verified information.

The disclosure of the officers’ telephone numbers is intended to make official communication more accessible.

However, members of the public are expected to use the contacts for appropriate official enquiries and follow established procedures when reporting emergencies or seeking immediate police assistance.

Although the announcement identified the four officers and their new assignments, it did not provide further details about their previous postings or state whether additional changes would be made to other commands and formations.

The affected officers are expected to carry out their communication responsibilities in line with the policies and procedures of the Nigeria Police Force.
