Senate’s New E-Transmission Bill Could Let INEC Rig Votes — NNPC Chieftain Raises Alarm

Buba Galadima, a prominent chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has sounded a heavy note of warning regarding the Senate’s recent legislative moves.

He claims the proposed Electronic Transmission Bill is a calculated attempt to weaken Nigeria’s democracy and empower the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate future election results.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise TV on Thursday, the veteran politician dismissed the Senate’s efforts as insincere.

He argued that the lawmakers have failed to provide genuine reforms to the 2022 Electoral Act, choosing instead to maintain a status quo that favors institutional manipulation.

Galadima expressed deep skepticism about the intentions of the upper chamber, suggesting that the current legal framework is being designed to fail the Nigerian voter.

“The Senate hasn’t made any amendments to the 2022 Electoral Act because they left it as it is. What the Senate did was try to be wise by half, and they thought Nigerians are as unintelligent as they are,” Galadima stated.

The core of the alarm raised by the NNPP chieftain centers on the specific mechanics of vote transmission.

He warned that the bill, in its current form, contains loopholes that would allow INEC to bypass digital transparency by relying on manual documentation to validate fraudulent results.

According to Galadima, the insistence on certain manual procedures under the guise of electronic transmission is a red flag.

The NNPC Chieftain insists that any bill containing caveats or “ifs” is a non-starter for the opposition and the general public.

“If the Electronic Transmission Bill is passed as it is, INEC will be directed to use only Form EC-8A to enhance rigging. We are not taking any electronic transmission bill with a ‘but’,” he added firmly.
