The leader of Ogboni fraternity, Tajudeen Bakare has posited that self-styled activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho is a messenger of God.
Igboho, the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba, is presently in Beninoise security operatives’ custody for illegal entry into the French-speaking country. He is also accused of criminal association.
“Sunday Igboho is a messenger sent by God to liberate the Yoruba race. The indicator is that all past Yoruba heroes were not wealthy when they involved themselves in struggles. The moment wealth came, they couldn’t continue with the struggle. That is why we see Sunday Igboho as being different; and a messenger,” Bakare said in a recent interview with BBC News Yoruba.
“So, when some people say he wants to use his agitation to cause chaos, let’s ask if they find guns with him on the protest ground.
“As a citizen of Nigeria, he has rights to speak out. It is the injustice meted out to the Yorubas that he is averse to. He shouldn’t be misconstrued.”
