JUST IN: IPOB militants set bus ablaze in Enugu over sit-at-home [PHOTOS]

Persons suspected to be fanatically loyal to the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Monday set ablaze a bus transporting tomatoes, vegetables and other foodstuffs to Enugu — for allegedly violating its suspended sit-at-home order.

This came as frightened residents have continued to stay at home every Monday in some parts of the Southeast, defying even the orders of IPOB leadership who had severally but unsuccessfully tried to stop the exercise.

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the vehicle was burnt at Edem junction, Ibeagwa, Nike, in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State around 5:45 am on Monday.

The vehicle was reportedly coming from the Ugwogo end of the Opi/Enugu bypass when it was blocked and set on fire.

Kanu who has a massive following among Igbo youths most especially, is slated to go to court in Abuja in October. The Nigerian government charge him with treason, terrorism, among other crimes. He was rearrested in Kenya in June.
