South East Governors and traditional rulers have jointly condemned the Monday sit-at-home order issued by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
This position was taken after the governors met at the Enugu state government house. They declared that such order can no longer be sustained, more so when those who issued the order were outside the country.
This was as the governors refused to discuss the incarceration of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. They lamented that the sit-at-home order has crippled social and economic activities in the region.
Reading the resolutions reached after the meeting, Ebonyi state governor and chairman of the South-East Governors forum, Dave Umahi said;
“The South East condemned the killings in the region and have agreed to join hands with security agencies to stop the killings. The meeting condemned the sit-at-home orders, which are mostly issued by our people in diaspora who do not feel the pains.”
“In view of the information that even IPOB had cancelled the sit-at-home, the meeting resolved that governors and all people of the South East do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further sit-at-home in the South East and that people are allowed to freely move about in the zone.”, he said.
Disappointing. Insecurity to worsen.
REAL BIG QUESTIONS LEAVE UNANSWERED !!
** why is it that the S\E leaders has decided to play ignorant on the burning issues in the Zone?
** Why is it that the leaders has leave the thousands of Kanu’s before them and focus on only one in the prison ?
** Have Namdi Kanu issued any directive since his arrest ?
** And many more…
You are beating about the bush. You condemn sit at home order without mentioning the reason the order was given. Nnamdi Kanu the IPOB leader is in detention and you expect his followers to keep silent. Our governors are not yet ready to solve insecurity problems.
If they can freely walk around the town as they reach in their meeting, then, I will follow their footsteps. If you tell me to come out and work freely while you isolate yourself in the government house with security. Check am now, e get why??????

South East governors shld please wake up. Majority of pple expect the SE governors to do something positive about Nnamdi Kanu, bt they are mute and indifferent unlike their SW counterparts in Igboho’s case. SE governors are beginning to lose the respect of the ppl by their inaction.
This group of people are still on their high horses, though in the but are far removed from the poeple they’re supposed to represent. No amount of white paper would change the people’s resolve, I for one would sit at home because I dont and cannot trust the government forces for my safety.
