Electoral reform: “Freedom has been murdered” – Pat Utomi laments

Political economist and management expert, Pat Utomi has expressed concerns over the newly signed Electoral Act 2026.
In a series of posts made on X, Utomi said a cabal is stalling the struggle for the liberation of the Nigerian people focused on rigging the election.
Noting that the cabal’s rigging plan for the 2027 election is already at an advanced stage, the economist called on all concerned professionals in the diaspora to return to the country.
He said, “Back in the 1990s I put my life on the line that Nigeria may be free. Today it became clear that freedom has been murdered.
“I call on Concerned Professionals to return to the struggle for the liberation of the Nigerian people from a cabal foisting on us advanced election rigging,” Utomi said.
He also noted that Nigerians in the diaspora should, as a matter of urgency, join the quest to save Nigeria’s democracy.
“Nigerian professionals who left town, the Diaspora, have a duty to get into fifth gear about this urgency of now, the saving of Nigeria’s democracy. We are back to the 1990s,” he noted.
Utomi, subsequently warned that just like in the early years when colonisers and the military were fought, Nigeria is currently faced with “entrepreneurs of power who masquerade as leaders” within the confines of the National Assembly.
“Our fathers fought colonisers. We confronted the military. Today’s youth will lose the future unless they contain yesterday’s men and entrepreneurs of power who masquerade as leaders in the NASS and the Executive branch. They have technology and numbers on their side to fight this coup
“The line is drawn. It is politicians in power versus the Nigerian people. Before us is life and death. Choose life that you may live,” he added.
