Solomon Dalung, the Minister of Youth and Sports in President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term in office on Monday said he “was one of the most vocal persons against bad policies and ineptitude of government when I was in the Federal Executive Council, FEC”.
Dalung said this in response to jeers from a section of the public, who believe he is now only a government critic because he presently does not have the privilege of being a government official.
“I have noticed that what some people often say is that I am speaking against bad governance now because I am no longer in government but what they fail to understand is that when you are in government, there are laid down protocol of communication and you have direct access to the President or whoever is concerned. So you may only ask whether I did use all those opportunities or not, of course I did. I was one of the most vocal person against bad policies and ineptitude of government when I was in the Federal Executive Council FEC,” Dalung wrote on his known Facebook page.
“I have spoken and fought many people I believe to be bad elements in government, these and many more are things done behind the scene and I am not asking anyone to stop the mediocre insults against me but you should also know that there are many people that are no longer in government today but are mute even against the dangerous things happening today in Nigeria. I am a man of conscience and I can’t sleep with my eyes close seeing how lives have been reduced to statistics particularly in north and other parts of the country and all you expect is I should keep quiet.
“That’s not Solomon Dalung, Solomon Dalung is that man that will say it to your face whether you like it or not, truth is truth. I don’t sugar coat.”
