There is pandemonium in Ipaja area of Lagos following the occurrence of an explosion on Friday morning, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
Residents of the area who took to social media hinted that there are casualties. While some reports say it is gas explosion, others say it is pipeline explosion.
Recall that last year (in October), at least eight people died when a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant, located in the same area, along densely populated Candos Road, Baruwa, Ipaja-Ayobo, Old Alimosho Local Government Area, suddenly exploded and engulfed the entire area.
It was gathered that an LPG tanker was in the process of discharging its content at the Best Roof Gas Plant Station but unfortunately, the station’s generating set was running and in the process sparked which exploded and threw the discharging tanker across the road.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) is yet to issue an official statement on Friday’s tragedy as of the time of publishing this report.
