Chief Sunday Igboho files suit against Benin government for $1 million

The Chief Sunday Adeyemo, or Sunday Igboho, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the government of Benin Republic to the Community Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

After being arrested under the charge of immigration offences in the Benin Republic on July 2021, he has been serving detention. In February 2022, the Government of the Republic of Benin extended his detention for six months long. However, Igboho mentioned that there was no criminal charge or extradition request from Nigeria against him.

“Contrary to what was speculated in the news by a lawyer, the government of the Republic de Benin has renewed the incarceration of Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Igboho Oosa for another six months even though there is no criminal charge in their file in Cotonou and without extradition request from Nigeria,” Chief Yomi Aliyyu, counsel for Mr Igboho, explained.

Earlier today Chief Igboho filed a suit for a million-dollar compensation demand of the general damages he had to experience each day during his detention in the Benin Republic.

He filed a suit to defend his right to an unbiased trial within a reasonable time and two violations of human rights regarding freedom of movement and the right to dignity.

Accompanied by one of his lawyers, Tosin Ojaomo, the claim will be heard at a high court in Benin on Monday.

THE ABOVE, A MISREPRESENTATION BY BABY LAWYERS. IMMIGRATION ISSUES ARE EXCLUSIVE PRESERVES AND DISCRETIONS OF HOST NATIONS. TO EVEN IMAGINE THAT A PROVEN TOOTHLESS BULLDOG ECOWS COURT WOULD WADE IN TO DO WAHT?

Whoever is advising this MISADVENTURER. His case just got worsen by this singular not-well- thought-out and moribund exercise-in-futility. Including his condition just become really bad. At this juncture things might turn awry.

HE JUST WALKED RIGHT STRAIGHT INTO A TRAP AND WHAT BOTH GOVERNMENTS MIGHT HAVE WANTED. A LONG ENDING LEGAL BATTLE TO KEEP AWAY FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
