2023 presidential hopeful, Anyim, speaks on Nigeria’s biggest problem

Former President of the Senate and one-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, has said Nigeria’s biggest problem is “lack of leadership”.

The 2023 presidential aspirant said although the country’s problem is “hydra-headed”, wrong leaders at the helm of affairs has been the real problem.

Anyim said this when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Friday, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA.

“I think the problems have become hydra-headed. So, you can’t even single them. If you ask me, I’d say the greatest challenge is lack of leadership,” Anyim, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, said.

Anyim had declared his interest in the presidential race. He feels it is time for someone from the South-east to lead the country and has vowed to contest, whether the presidential slot is zoned to his zone or not. He strongly believes the next president should be able to rebuild, protect lives and property, revive the economy, create jobs and rehabilitate the collapsed educational system.

According to him, the task ahead called for a candidate who possesses the political pedigree, vision and credentials to lead the PDP to accomplish the tasks. He believes he has what it takes to govern the country, particularly in these trying times.
