Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has hailed all the Chairmanship aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for agreeing to allow Senator Abdullahi Adamu become the new Chairman of the party.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kalu stated this via social media on Saturday afternoon as the APC National Convention holds in Abuja.
Six persons vying for the position of the National Chairman of the APC: Senator Tanko Al-Makura, Senator George Akume, Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Sani Musa Muhammed, Etsu Muhammed, and Turaki Saliu Mustapha stepped down from the contest.
The six former candidates backed the candidate of President Muhammdu Buhari as their consensus candidate, Senator Adamu.
“I want to sincerely commend all the Chairmanship aspirants of our great party for displaying maturity and putting the interest of party ahead of individual interests,” Kalu wrote on his official Facebook page.
“Their decision to withdraw and agree to a consensus arrangement as suggested by President Muhammadu Buhari is highly commendable. Together, we can.”
Meanwhile, a group, under the aegis of Orji Uzor Kalu Movement Abia, has vowed to purchase nomination and intent form for, Senator Kalu ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election.
