Texas, USA-based World Igbo Congress (WIC) on Tuesday criticised southeast leaders for ‘not speaking the truth to power’.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the WIC said the Igbo leaders’ ‘pretence’ is “the reason for the sit-at-home”.
Residents in the South-east, as usual, shut their businesses and stayed indoors throughout Monday, in compliance with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB’s) sit-at-home order.
The closed shops and deserted roads showed that the efforts by some Igbo leaders to bring an end to the sit-at-home order yielded no result.
This is despite IPOB, the outlawed separatist group, declaring an end to the sit-at-home order.
According to the WIC, injustice is driving separatist agitation in Nigeria, and Igbo leaders’ silence is unacceptable.
“Igbo leaders must stop pretending and speak the truth to power, it’s the reason for sit@HOME! Igbo communities are in pain. The Fed gov unleashed terror on our homeland. Built bridge of hatred since 50yrs of civil war. Leaders stop feeding us lies and save our next generation,” a post on the official Twitter handle of WIC reads on Monday.
