Plateau, Benue killings: “There’s an outrage fatigue in Nigeria” – Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, on Wednesday criticised the presidency and presidential aspirants for their ‘silence’ on recent mass killings in Plateau and Benue states.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that gunmen on Sunday killed at least 142 persons in fresh attacks on some communities in Kanam and Wase Local Government Areas of Plateau State, North-central Nigeria.

The attacks, carried out in Kukawa, Gyambawu, Dungur, Kyaram, Yelwa, Dadda, Wanka, Shuwaka, Gwammadaji, and Dadin Kowa communities of the state.

Similarly, on Monday night, herdsmen invaded several communities in three local government areas of Benue State and killed a traditional ruler and 24 other people.

For Sani, ordinary Nigerians are presently so used to these unpalatable news such that they don’t react anymore.

“The Presidency and the Presidential aspirants are yet to react to the bloodbath in Plateau and Benue; and it generally appears there’s an outrage fatigue in the country; our tragedies overwhelming our conscience,” Sani wrote on his verified Twitter handle.
