2027: Yoruba Ronu Forum Dumps APC, Declares Support for ADC

The Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum has formally ended its relationship with the All Progressives Congress and declared support for the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision followed a high-level visit by the forum’s leaders to the ADC national secretariat in Abuja. The meeting focused on political strategy and long-term collaboration.

In a statement issued after the visit and signed by its president, Akin Malaolu, the group accused the ruling party of weakening public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic system.

The forum said Nigerians are gradually losing interest in the electoral process due to what it described as poor governance and broken promises.

It referenced the low turnout recorded during the recent Federal Capital Territory local government elections as evidence that citizens no longer trust political leadership. According to the forum, this trend is dangerous for the future of democracy in the country.

The group also raised concerns about Nigeria’s image abroad and the worsening economic situation at home. It listed unemployment, insecurity, and rising food prices as major issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.

Yoruba Ronu said these conditions made it necessary to search for a new political platform that can inspire hope and rebuild confidence among voters. It described the ADC as a credible alternative with a growing national presence.

The forum pointed to the recent influx of notable political figures into the party and its performance in recent elections as signs of increasing acceptance across the country.

Beyond endorsing the ADC, the group said it would actively contribute to shaping the party’s policies and campaign strategies, especially in the South-West region.

It also called on Yoruba people within Nigeria and in the Diaspora to rally behind the ADC and work towards a new political direction in 2027.
