The Edo state police command has arrested and detained four of their officers over the death of one vigilante member, Ikponwonsa Aikpitanyi.
The vigilante member was trying to stop a woman from disposing refuse on the road before police officers who tried to intervene in the matter allegedly shot the 27-year-old Aikpitanyi.
Commissioner of police Abutu Yaro ordered the arrest and detention of the officers after the incident that happened at Obaze Street, off Ewah Road, Benin city.
