Senator Dickson meets Peter Obi, speaks on attempted assassination [PHOTOS]

The lawmaker representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District on Thursday met with the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Dickson met Obi during a courtesy visit by the former Anambra state governor, days after an attempted assassination on him by some yet to be identified gunmen.
In a post made on X, the lawmaker and former Bayelsa governor said it was a pleasure to receive Obi in his residence.
According to Dickson, he had a warm and engaging discussion with Obi as they reaffirmed their shared commitment to the progress and unity of Nigeria.

Speaking on the recent attempted assassination of Obi and some leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dickson expressed hope that the Nigerian government and relevant security agencies will do the needful by bringing the perpetrators to justice.

He said, “I commiserated with him over the dastardly attempt to intimidate or assassinate opposition leaders at the private residence of His Excellency, Chief Oyegun, an 85-year-old elderstatesman in Benin.

“I expressed my concerns to Mr Obi and others affected, and I expressed hope that the Federal Government and security agencies will bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that such an act never occurs again, either in Benin City or anywhere else in Nigeria,” Dickson said.
He also appreciated the former Anambra State governor for visiting his hometown and attending the funeral of the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa said.
In addition, Dickson said, “Similarly, I received the three PDP opposition members, led by the Minority Leader, Hon. Ted Elemeforo, who came to visit me.
“I thank them for the visit and their solidarity, and I wish them well,” he noted.
