Dapo Lam-Adesina, a former member of the House of Representatives, has warned supporters of Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to pull themselves together and stop bickering over both men.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Dapo, the current Special Assistant Political (South West) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, said in a recent press statement that he was concerned with the squabbles on social media, not only because he is a member of the APC, but because he is from the southwest region.
His words: “We are setting a bad precedent. It is so unfortunate that this is happening and everybody is going on as if it is normal. If care is not taken, our party may be badly hit. Our region most importantly might be the worst-hit.
“And this would mean we haven’t learned from the past, which can be said to be ‘self inflicted’.
“If they don’t know, these two individuals (Tinubu and Osinbajo) are not enemies. They are just pursuing their ambitions. Let’s campaign based on deliverables and not name-calling. It is enough.”
He added: “If care is not taken, the Yorubas may lose out of this power play. This is another time when we have our people well-placed to take the mantle of leadership. It is a rare privilege for us.”
The APC special presidential convention is scheduled to hold from Monday, May 30, to Wednesday, June 1.
