2023: Another top lawmaker dumps APC

As the 2023 election approaches, Zubairu Hamza Massu, the Deputy-Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Massu made this announcement on Friday.

Although Massu did not reveal his next move, he stated: “Following the recent happening in the party couple with series of consultations with my constituents, supporters and stakeholders in Sumaila and Kano North in general, I write to notify you of my intention and decision to resign as a member of APC.”

The Deputy-Speaker becomes the fourth APC member in the House of Assembly to resign from the APC in three days.

Other members expected to leave the governing party include a former speaker and member representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum; Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila; Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, a member representing (Dawakin-Tofa/Tofa/ Rimin-Gado) federal constituency; Haruna Dederi, a federal lawmaker from Karaye constituency, alongside a host of others.

All of them are tipped to join the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), a party that has been gaining new members since former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso teamed up with them in March.
