As the 2023 election approaches, a former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, has asked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to repent, make restitution and reconcile with “all those he offended by his actions and utterances”.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Wike on Monday reflected on his outing at Sunday’s presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and blamed his loss to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on his Southern counterparts.
Wike said the Southern governors betrayed him by working against their earlier agreement that the Presidency should return to the South.
According to him, PDP governors ganged up with some vested interests to derail the quest of the South to produce the next president on the platform of the party.
Those remarks angered Dokubo, who said Wike has no moral right to complain about betrayal.
“I was livid with anger [sic] that Nyesom Wike that Nyesom Wike will tell people that he was betrayed. Betrayed by who? The people you are abusing? The people you treated like rat? They should accept your aspiration so that when you reach Abuja as president, you will kill us? People don’t advise you. You have cows like Ishi Samuel Nwanosike, you made Chairman, that has elevated you to the position of god.
“If someone should be talking about betrayal, it should former PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus. You kicked him out because of your political aspiration, now you are talking about betrayal,” Dokubo fumed in a recent Facebook Live.
