Reno Omokri reveals most popular Igbo man after Nnamdi Kanu

Reno Omokri, the outspoken former Special Assistant on Social Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday named Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), as “the most popular Igbo man on earth after Nnamdi Kanu”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that now-detained Kanu, is a Nigerian-British citizen who leads the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), an organisation agitating for the creation of a sovereign Igbo nation. He is from Afara Ukwu, Umuahia in Abia state.

Obi, meanwhile, is a former Anambra State Governor and erstwhile Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Both men are from the Igbo ethnic group.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle on Thursday morning, Omokri pleaded with Digar Ezenwafor, who emerged the factional presidential candidate of the LP on Wednesday, to give up his ambition for Obi.

Obi has a massive following online, especially among youths.

“After Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Peter Obi is the most popular Igbo man on planet Earth. He represents the Igbo zeitgeist and has the mandate of many Nigerian youths. I therefore appeal to Chief Digar Ezenwafor to consider this, and step down for Peter in Nigeria’s interest!” Omokri wrote.
