BREAKING: Top Nigerian monarch dies at 93 [PHOTO]

Alhaji Ahmad Umar (Mai-Kwatarshi), the Emir of Kwatarkwashi in Bungudu Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, is dead.

According to a public announcement signed by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Kabiru Balarabe, obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA, the emir died at his palace on Thursday after a lengthy illness.

He was buried at about 6:30 pm at Kwatarkwashi, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Late Mai Kwatarkwashi ascended the throne on March 17, 1961. His 61 years on the throne means he was the oldest emir in Zamfara State.

The Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba in Collaboration with the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of personnel across the country.

The officers are promoted to their next ranks.
