Nnamdi Kanu: Why ‘no election in s/east’ is a plus for APC – Ekwo

Amaka Ekwo, a former Press Secretary of Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday said the constant threat by Kanu’s group, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), that residents of the southeast geopolitical zone would not participate in the 2023 general election, would cause the continued detention of the separatist leader.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Ekwo, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari, “does not respect the rule of law”, and voter apathy from southeast electorates mean the governing party’s chances of retaining power in 2023 is high.

As one of its strategy towards the achievement of Biafra independence, IPOB leaders have repeatedly called on their tribesmen to boycott elections in Nigeria. But with the entry of a former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who is considered one of the frontline candidates in next year’s presidential election, some Biafra activists have changed tune.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the #IPOB leader is still in detention because the Fulani government of @MBuhari’s @NigeriaGov does not respect the rule of law.

“No election in Biafra-land is a PLUS for Buhari and APC may not #FreeNnamdiKanu. #Biafra in mind. #BiafraExit #BiafraReferendum,” Ekwo wrote on her known Twitter handle.
