A member of Oyo State House of Assembly Ademola Olusegun Popoola has died aged 46, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
The lawmaker who represented Ibadan Southeast constituency II died on Tuesday night at University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after reportedly suffering from a kidney-related disease.
A family source who confirmed the lawmaker’s demise said he was billed to be flown abroad for surgery before he passed away.
He recently won a returned ticket to fly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) flag in the constituency.
Reacting, fellow politician, Adeniyi Rotimi Akinfenwa-Johnson wrote on his known Facebook page: “I commiserate with the family, followers and entire people of Ibadan Southeast II Constituency on the demise of amiable, humble and nice Hon Olusegun Popoola whose sad event happened last night.
“May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Accord Ibadan South East Local Government (LG) said in a statement: “We commiserate with the family, followers and entire people of Ibadan Southeast II Constituency on the demise of amiable, humble and nice Hon Olusegun Popoola whose sad event happened last night. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
